Tom Ford: The Complete Beauty Collection

Anyone else ridiculously excited that Tom Ford’s Beauty Collection is almost here?  As a huge fan of the Private Blend Lipcolor Collection (I have Black Orchid and True Coral), to say that I am looking forward to this would be the understatement of the century.  We aren’t just talking about nail polish and lipsticks anymore.  We are talking about a complete beauty collection including color cosmetics and a line of skin care.

Behold, exhibit A:

The Tom Ford Beauty Collection

The gorgeous packaging alone makes me want to reach for my wallet.

More than that, however, I trust Tom Ford.  He has an uncanny knack for knowing a woman’s body better than she does.  It is evident in each of his designs.  It is evident in the amazing fragrances he has created.  It is evident in each flattering shade of the Private Blend lipsticks.  I have faith that this collection – inspired by the likes of Jerry Hall, Lauren Hutton, Mariel Hemingway and Bianca Jagger – will follow suit.

Ford recently sat down with WWD to discuss the new line and his approach to a beauty collection:

“You need to understand the face and compensate for the architecture of the face. A nice thick brow is the key to a youthful look,” he said, adding that a darker, heavier brow can make a high forehead appear less high, while an arched and tailored brow can make a round face appear more regular.

His brow solution?  Calligraphy tip brow pens that are so precise they can be used to draw on individual brow hairs.  Now, I have an Anastasia Brown Pen that is pretty precise… but not quite to that level!   The collection’s “Shade and Illuminate” cream duo is designed to further enhance and reshape the face.

And what of the colors?  Think BOLD.

“For night, it’s a strong eye and a strong mouth.” Indeed, even his lip glosses — with racy names like Lost Cherry — are packed with pigment. Eyes are most definitely smoky, and the key is to “anchor” intense colors around the eye with a rim of kohl-effect pencil”

Lost Cherry?  LOVE!

He also isn’t adding extraneous products just to make a profit.  Instead, he approached at the collection with a critical eye and determined which products were really necessary:

“I don’t like B.S. and a lot of promises, and there are a lot of products out there you don’t even need. My brain works in the same way whatever I do.  The approach is practical, architectural and I use the same vocabulary whether I’m designing clothing or color cosmetics.”

That being said, how does he truly determine what is/is not necessary?  Well, for starters, he uses some of the products himself!  These have now become a part of his beauty regime:

  • Traceless Foundation Stick (for the corners of his nose and eyes)
  • Illuminating Protective Primer
  • Purifying Crème Cleanser
  • Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme (he reportedly sometimes sleeps in this)

The Tom Ford Beauty Collection. In the U.S., items will range in price from $30 to $250

So, where can you get it?

Unfortunately, the Full Collection won’t hit stores until September October November, but the lipsticks are available as of September.   That seems sooooo far way, doesn’t it?

Just like the Private Blend Lipcolor Collection, availability will be limited.  Only 35 stores globally will carry the line, including:

  • Tom Ford stores
  • Bergdorf Goodman
  • Select Neiman Marcus
  • Select Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Italy’s La Rinascente
  • Harvey Nichols
  • Selfridges

None of those helpful to you? Don’t fret, that’s what the internet is for!  Online commerce – thank you God!

The other good news? The Private Blend Lipcolor Collection is also being expanded to include 18 (instead of the current 12) shades and will be available at 100 locations globally.

And as an added bonus, there are also three new fragrances being introduced:

Given the steamy Neroli Ad Campaign photos, I can not wait to see the ad campaigns for these!

Speaking of which, the advertising campaign for the Beauty Collection, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, features model Lara Stone and, as you can see, Tom Ford himself.

""I’m not in the ads because I’m vain. A lot of people still don’t know who I am, and the product sells better with me in the ads," - Tom Ford to WWD. (Image via WWD)

I quite like the ads, especially the first one above.  That purple shade MUST be mine! major WANT.

So, what do you think?

Have you tried any of the Private Blend Lipcolors before?

Are you looking forward to this collection?

since Tom left Gucci I was a bit out of touch with him! now thanks to you I keep up to date 😛
I have to tell you that when he released Black Orchid I rushed to buy it even if it’s not exactly what suits me (it was ok but never bought it again). When I go to London I always see at Harrod’s (I think) his lipsticks and private blend fragrances, but never asked how much they cost (I’m interested more in the fragrances than the lipsticks though as I’m not a lipstick girl).
His packaging is immaculate though…if I visit the UK after September I have to check it out. Would like to see how Jasmin Rouge smells…I love jasmine.

yayyy!!! great post, i’m so sad i missed it the day you actually wrote it but c’est la vie! i have never tried one of the private blend lip colors but i am excited to try something from this line of cosmetics. i’ll probably go for straight up beauty products since i’m a loyal borba skincare girl, but if i hear from others of a great product within the skincare line i’d probably try it out. i’m nervous about the price point of these. i get annoyed when beauty products cost too much because i have amazing products that don’t cost an arm and a leg and work impeccably. but that said, there are definitely certain products i wouldn’t mind splurging on if he really delivers the quality we all expect (i’m sure he will) and given that he’s chosen amazing colors. I’m excited to try it out!!

Ohhhhh I LOVE the ads for this line. I actually laughed out loud when I read in NY Mag (I think, that could be wrong), that his products sell better when he’s in the campaign…worked on me Tom, worked on me.

“…the product sells better with me in the ads.” And how. He really is such an impeccable-looking man. Guh.

Obviously I love, die, want, etc. etc. Everything looks amazing – I’m loving the nude nail shade on Lara in that last ad and the lip in the second. I’m especially excited for the fragrances, though, for some reason. Gosh, between the clothes and beauty and fragrances he’s really making it possible for us to live Tom Ford, isn’t he? I mean, slightly astronomical price tags and obscure availability aside.

By the way, I think all us TF groupies need to have a Twitter party when the documentary airs. Just sayin’.

Of course this will be available at all of my favourite stores that are my weakness, haha! Selfridges, Neimans, Harvey Nichols. Ahhhh! I feel that the Jasmine Rouge will be my favourite. Goodness it is very true what you said about Tom Ford, “He has an uncanny knack for knowing a woman’s body better than she does.” I agree! Madison 🙂

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I cannot WAIT for this to drop. I’m going to be all over the lippies and polishes. I need to do some recon and check my local NM and see if they have the lippies now. If they do, I bet they’ll carry the line. There IS the Internet, but it’s so hard to judge makeup colors on screen.

Great post, B! You’re my TF resource. Love it.

I love Tom Ford and I am a beauty product junkie! This is such great news. Heading to Neiman and Saks to see if they have the line while I’m still here in Vegas. Both stores are across my hotel room! What luck!
