Whatever Wednesday: Men’s Shapewear, Crystal Renn, Alexander McQueen, and more!

Crystal Renn for Chanel Spring/Summer 2011

Even though I have mixed feelings about this editorial, and question her reasoning behind doing it, I still have a soft spot for Crystal Renn. Here are a few shots of her walking the runway at Chanel’s S/S 2011 show. Check out the detail on the accessories and shoes.

Also – I want these earrings. Bad.

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2011

You’ve probably already seen the stunning images from the S/S 2011 Alexander McQueen show.  Although she stayed away from McQueen’s usual-theatric style, Creative Director Sarah Burton did a phenomenal job bringing the latest designs to the runway – I think McQueen would be proud!  I love this video because seeing the pieces move with the models brings a whole new life to them.

I was also fascinated by the hair on the McQueen runway. Love it!

Three Problems that Make Me Leave Your Blog in Three Seconds

In case you haven’t read this yet, here are three great tips for every blogger, via problogger. Check it out here.

The latest in men’s shapewear…

Since we have shape-enhancing underwear for women, it is only fair that the same option be available for men. Right? According to the Huffington Post, British Department Store Marks & Spencer has come out with a line of “bum lift” and “frontal enhancement” underwear that will hit shelves October 15.

I know a lover might feel “disappointed” when they first – ahem – remove a cup-enhancing brassiere. Personally, though, I think the “frontal enhancement” underwear will lead to much greater disappointment! What do you think? Is this taking shapewear too far, or is it just fair?

Left to right: Real, frontal-enhanced, bum-enhanced. I'd be disappointed when that middle pair came off... just sayin'

Me Wants It

I haven’t had much time to blog this week, so I wasn’t able to post the usual lust list on Monday. Instead, here are a couple of items I am currently coveting:

Thanks for the link to the blog post about keeping people coming back to your blog. I thought it was interesting. I keep coming back to yours because I love the images you post and because your thoughts are interesting. Those shaper shorts are really amusing. I wonder why we think nothing of push up bras for women but find push up underwear for men look so funny!

Thank you! I like to hear what brings people back here, and I appreciate the fact that you DO come back! 🙂

Re: the shsper shorts – I don’t know what it is, but push-up underwear just seems so wrong. In so many ways!

I have a soft spot for Miu Miu’s in general… love the color of these though.

The enhancing underwear scares me! LOL

Read the problogger’s suggesting! Mostly good! But I do read posts which even have 0 comments. You never know what you might find! 🙂 Ms. Ricci is looking good in that picture 🙂

I read those too, but I like the idea of changing what that line says. Couldn’t hurt, right? I used to think Christina Ricco was odd looking when she was younger – she’s grown into a stunning woman!

I can’t help but like Crystal for bringing a bodytype to the runway that I can actually relate to even slightly (she has a good four inches on me height-wise, darn it). Her choice of fashion photog collaboration…well, to each their own, I guess.

Thanks for the McQueen video! I only saw a few pictures, which I loved. It seems much more understated than Lee’s creations, but that seems kind of appropriate – a proverbial dimming of the lights in his memory, you could say – and sensible. I like that she didn’t try to outdo the previous collections, she focused on the details and got it right.

Interesting blogging tips – design and original ideas I agree with, but I don’t know if I could get behind the one about comments. There are a few blogs I follow where I seem to be the only one commenting and yet it’s some of my favorite content on the web. Zero comments could mean a bad blog or an undiscovered gem, you know?

My pleasure re: the video – I think seeing the designs move just makes them all the more appealing!

re: the blogging tips, I see what you are saying, although I like the suggestion of getting rid of the “Zero Comments” It couldn’t hurt to change it to say something a b8it more inviting, but I also agree that a blog with no comments doesn’t turn me off… there are SO many undiscovered blogs out there, whether or not they have comments doesn’t usually phase me.

I feel pretty sure I’ll never end up in bed with a man who wears shapewear. It’s a double standard, because I care what I look like, but I’m not attracted to men who care too much about their appearance.

heh, I doubt I would either, but its just the idea of it…. something seems so wrong about THIS type of shapewear. I feel sorry for the woman who does end up in bed with the guy sporting these!

Great Problogger read…thanks for sharing. And oy vey, the men’s shapewear. Lordy. That is as bad a a bra that adds two cup sizes. Men notice. Now women will too.

My pleasure. Perhaps both the bras and the underwear should be boycotted! LOL That is some definite false advertising!
