Tom Ford, how do I love thee…

let me count the ways…

Tom Ford, I love you because:
  1. After a 6-year absence from woman’s fashion, during which time you were sorely missed, you will be back Spring/Summer 2011!
  2. You stole the spotlight at NYFW with the “secret” and highly exclusive presentation of your new line.
  3. Your new line was modeled by women who are an inspiration to YOU.
  4. According to reports, your models were styled perfectly, the runway show was a couture-style show (elegant and glamorous), and you narrated the show yourself.
  5. Your new collection sounds remarkable. According to Cathy Horyn: “[The new collection is] the height of glamour — sharp pantsuits in black silk or a leopard pattern, gorgeous black evening clothes with sheer blouses, corsets and maybe a shrug in shredded tulle, impeccable details like hammered gold jewelry, stilettos with ankle ties and seamed black stockings.”  All words I love.
  6. Most of all, I love you because you used models of all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors in your “secret” launch. YAY!
Now, Tom Ford, why do I hate you?
  1. You only let one photographer – Terry Richardson, use a camera to document the evening.
  2. We have to wait until January to see the collection.
  3. Did I mention you only let one measly camera into the show? *pout*
  4. You are such a tease.

OK, so now what?  Let the thumb-twiddling commence.  I can’t believe I am now looking forward to January!

In the meantime, we can at least take a brief look at some of the models who were reportedly in the show.  It’s a teaser, but at least we can imagine how beautiful they each must have been walking Tom Ford’s runway! (Note: the images below are NOT from the show, just random shots I like of the models!)

According to Joe Zee, the creative director of Elle Magazine, the show was “a visual smorgasboard of refined chic and sexiness.”  With these gorgeous women, and Tom Ford’s designs – I bet it was!

I can’t wait to see the images!

Ohhh.. I had actually left another much longer comment before the one above… Gremlins ate it!!! That's why the Dore et al comment doesn't make my sense!!!
I has said that Richardson was the only low point for me in an otherwise fashion HIGHlight! and why didn't the savvy finger on the pulse Ford use Schumann and Dore?

I had gone on and on and ON about how much I loved Tom Ford's collection for Gucci in the mid nineties. I still have some pieces. Shirts and pants and meories of the column cut-out dresses…That whole 70s vibe was soooo sexy. This collection showing just sounds like fashion paradise! but… I am very surprised that Madonna wasn't involved.
Madonna was instrumental in making the Gucci name -and Tom Ford- a fashion force to be reckoned with… she wore his collections everywhere! Iconic image of her colecting an award with 60-ish hair, blue satin shirt and hipsters.

I just can't believe we have to wait until January – I understand why he's doing it, but it's torture.

I fell for Tom Ford way back when he revived Gucci in the mid 90s!
I LOVED that 70s look he brought back, the satin shirts and hipster pants and still have a few pieces and OH those dresses!!! Those white Goddess columns with cutouts and gold embelishments…. sigh….

This showing just sounds ahhmazing. And what a wonderfully diverse gathering of beauties! Although I am surprised that Madonna wasn't involved… she was a big Tom Ford / Gucci fan and really, she was responsible for getting Gucci back out there as a fashion force to be reckoned with. I remember her wearing Tom Ford's first collection for Gucci everywhere.

…and Terry Richardson?????? I will never get why this repulsive little man is so celebrated. Why oh why didn't Ford invite Schumann and Dore??

He is damn talented, can't wait to see the goodness. Plus if it had to be one photographer, Terry is a bit of a legend in my books and a bit of a dude.

    Great post and imagery hun!

Tom Ford is a very talented man, I've always loved his work.
It's wonderful that he has picked a variety of models that are different ages, shapes & sizes, hopefully more designers follow his lead.

This caaaast! Somebody was Tweeting about it while I was watching Tommy Hilfiger (I think; these last few days are such a mish-mosh of fabulous fashion, I can't keep everything together). Incidentally, Christina Hendricks was front row at Tommy, chatting with Bradley Cooper. Does that mean she wasn't invited to Tom Ford? BLASPHEMY, THAT. She so should've been on his runway. Ha.

I'm loving the stilettos with ankle ties trend. I think Donna Karan had them at her DKNY show and I remember thinking to myself that I really want a pair for spring. (:

He is fab – but I had to go back and edit the post to indicate that these aren't his designs. Just random images of the models that I like. We won't see his actual line until January, unless something changes.

He used to be the force behind GUCCI and YSL, but the past few years he has been concentrating on his men's line and a career as a film director. SO excited he is going back to woman's fashion now!

LOL! I love the Love/Hate relationship you have going on with Mr Ford! I'm still in fashion designer class 101 so I'm still learning about different designers so thanks for introducing him to me! The clothes are fab, especially the one Lisa Eisner has on! Its so airy and romantic, I just love it!
