As a designer I've never been worried about people copying my work. I'm always coming up with new things. If someone is inspired by my work, well what a great compliment!

Really enjoyed this post, how you've thoroughly researched the info dating back to 1930 plus agree with a lot said here. I mentioned on Katy's blog that those big brand high street names have been slapped with so many lawsuits it just ain't funny anymore!

The images you've shown are incredible too, esp the DVF and Mercy one... wearing designer is very much a status thing if you can't see past appreciating the design etc.

Absolutely agree with everything you've said here! I have been guilty of buying two knock-offs and highly regret it – they are so badly made, don't last very long, and I don't like to think about the kind of labor that was used to produce them.
